Bartow is a picturesque Florida town nestled between Tampa, Orlando, and Lakeland. Lovingly referred to by locals as the “City of Oaks and Azaleas,” Bartow is indeed full of natural beauty.

It’s also booming. Bartow is one of the countless towns new Florida residents are flocking to — which makes it a prime place to invest. But more on that later. First, let’s take a deeper dive into what life in Bartow is like!

Life in Bartow, Florida

Bartow is a land full of lakes, parks, and beautiful citrus groves. Its downtown area features eclectic antique shops and fun B&B’s, more often than not housed in historic buildings. Many of these buildings go back well over a hundred years. Despite being bordered by the much bigger cities of Orlando and Tampa, life in Bartow adheres to a much slower pace.

Bartow’s weather is one of its other big draws. Though summertime often comes with thunderstorms, the city’s winters are typically sunny and mild.

And although Bartow isn’t home to any of Florida’s better-known tourist attractions, its proximity to them makes for easy day trips. The city is under 50 miles from Walt Disney World and Busch Gardens Tampa Bay, and less than 20 miles from Legoland Florida and Bok Tower Gardens.

What Bartow lacks in amusement parks, it makes up for in other types of parks. There’s the 119-acre Mary Holland Park, which features beaches, campgrounds, playgrounds, and its own skateboard park, the 31-acre Bartow Civic Center, the 95-acre Bartow Park, and more. Golfers can enjoy a course designed by Donald Ross; cyclists can enjoy dozens of miles of rails-to-trails bike paths.

Bartow’s Economy

Most of Bartow’s job market is comprised of government, mining, and agricultural jobs.

The city’s median income falls about in line with U.S. averages. Median family income comes in at $56,009 a year.

And what about Bartow’s real estate market? As of April 2022, the city has over 100 homes for sale. The median listing price is $293,500. That’s up 36% from last year! According to Realtor.com, the average home spends 47 days on the market before being sold.

While Bartow’s housing market is still hot, it’s not quite as cutthroat as what’s being seen in other parts of Florida — making it a prime candidate for real estate investors who don’t want to overpay on their next property.
